Cotton, satin or stretch: which GLAM is yours?

Every GLAM inskirt is cotton. The difference is how it is woven, and that decides how it behaves under a saree across a day.

GlamLilly · pure cotton

The everyday one. Breathable poplin that gets softer with each wash and never clings in heat. Office, home, market, a long train journey in a cotton or handloom saree.

Choose it when: the saree is cotton, linen or a light handloom; the day is hot; you want the one you reach for most.

Not ideal for: very sheer sarees, where a satin weave covers better.

GlamTara · cotton satin

The occasion one. A satin weave with a gentle sheen and the densest cover of the three. Silk, Kanjeevaram, Banarasi and heavy drapes fall clean over it without catching, and the pleats hold their line.

Choose it when: the saree is silk, chiffon, georgette or organza; the event is long; the saree is light-coloured or sheer.

Not ideal for: peak summer under thick cotton, where poplin breathes better.

GlamViva · cotton stretch

The all-day one. Cotton blended with stretch, elasticated at the waist and slimmer through the hip. It moves with you: sitting, climbing stairs, a ten-hour wedding day, travel. No drawstring marks.

Choose it when: you will be on your feet or seated for hours; you prefer a slim line under the saree; you dislike tying a drawstring.

Not ideal for: anyone who wants a full flare at the hem; Viva is cut closer.

Quick guide by saree

Cotton, handloom, linen Lilly
Silk, Kanjeevaram, Banarasi Tara
Chiffon, georgette, organza Tara
Synthetic, printed, daily wear Lilly or Viva
Weddings and long functions Viva under cotton, Tara under silk

Care, by fabric

All three: cold machine wash, mild detergent, shade dry. Deep shades separately for the first wash. Tara: iron on the reverse to keep the sheen. Viva: no wringing, and skip the dryer to protect the stretch.

Most women end up with two

A Lilly for the week and a Tara for the occasions covers nearly every saree. Add a Viva if your days run long. Same waist measurement works across all three; only the size range differs, so check the size chart once.
